Setting up my Blog – Day One

January 21, 2012

Retirement was a real adjustment, especially because my hubby retired the same day I did. It took months to shed the gnawing feeling every Monday morning that I should be getting ready for work.  I’ve never had a problem finding something to do, so retirement is blissful to me–no longer having the responsibility of a public job, and doing whatever my little heart desires.

Who knew nearly eight months ago that I would be writing today?  I thought I’d be making fashion jewelry, scrapbooking, or remodeling houses. Apparently, God had other plans. And I have to tell you, it didn’t take long for me to find out just how much work writing entails. But I’m enjoying every minute of it. Or was, up to now.

I am as technologically challenged as I am mechanically challenged.  I had to memorize “righty-tighty, lefty-loosey” just to know which way to unscrew a bolt. If the window washer basin on my car didn’t have an icon on it, I can’t imagine where I’d wind up putting the water.

Now here I go, trying to set up a blog by the seat-of-my-pants. But then, isn’t that how I do most things? I’m too cheap to pay someone to teach me, so if I have to do everything twice to get it right, it’s my own fault.

In spite of the fact the WordPress makes this process as simple as possible for techno-dummies like me, I managed to lose my entire first post, as well as the custom header I’d created from a personal photo. Now here I am trying to create my first post.  Since you are reading this, I guess I did something right.
